A Comparison of OSI Model vs. TCP/IP Model

There are seven layers in the OSI Model, only four in the TCP/IP model. This is because TCP/IP assumes that applications will take care of everything beyond the Transport layer. The TCP/IP model also squashes the OSI's Physical and Data Link layers together into the Network Access Layer.

OSI Model - Foundation for all communications that take place between computer and other networking devices.

TCP/IP is a suite of protocols that work together to provide communication between network devices.

Note: OSI Model is just that a model, it is not a protocol that can be installed or run on any system.
TCP/IP on other hand, is a functioning protocol that enables computers to communicate.
